I’ve pushed pretty hard this week. I got an exercise bike and used it four times. I swam twice. I did bodyweight exercise workouts four times–all of that just between Sunday and Wednesday.
I feel great, but recognizing that I’ve been pushing quite hard I decided to take it easy today. I did still complete a core-focused bodyweight exercise workout at lunch today, but I didn’t push very hard and, aside from a few quick walks with the dogs, that’s all I did.
Why Take it Easy Today?
I’m not as young as I once was. Swimming is new to me. Spinning (indoor cycling) is new to me. While I feel great–no aches, no pains–I recognize that if I keep pushing, especially while doing activities that are new to me, I will hurt myself.
So even though I feel good, today felt like a good day to just let the body recover for a day.

I wasn’t going to say anything so I’m glad you did. When you laid out your routine yesterday it seemed like a lot.
Rest is also good for muscle regeneration.
I’m confident that my long-term plan is workable, but I need to work my way up to it and not try to adopt it all at once. 🙂 It’s also a bit of a “strike while the iron is hot” situation. I’m enjoying all the different types of exercise I’m doing and I want to use that energy for as long as it lasts, knowing it won’t last forever.
