I’ve never used Facebook Marketplace before, but I’ve used Craigslist a number of times with mixed results. Last weekend I got my camper and truck ready to sell, but didn’t actually list them anywhere. I finally took the time to list them on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace last night at around 11:30 PM.
So far, 15 hours later, 18 people have inquired about the Facebook listing and one person has inquired about the listing on Craigslist.
This has been a pretty eye-opening experience. I knew that Facebook Marketplace was taking over from other platforms like Craiglist and Ebay, but I had no idea the disparity was this pronounced.
I don’t have a confirmed buyer yet, but I’m hopeful that I’m getting close. Both the truck and camper need work (and are priced accordingly), and the right buyer is going to be someone who isn’t afraid of getting their hands dirty or someone who’s ok with the condition of the vehicle and camper as-is. They’ve both been used heavily over the last 6 years.
