Day 64: Workout Log

This afternoon we had our annual fourth of July family get together.

We’ve had a similar get together every year for the last few years. What we do is gather at my parents house on Lake Hartwell. Swim for a bit. Have a cookout in their backyard. And then finish of the evening by setting off fireworks in the driveway.

Pretty damn all-American.

So that’s what we did again this year, and it was great. We did our best to maintain social distancing and it was great to all be together for the first time since the pandemic really took hold in Georgia back in March.

The point is that I didn’t have a chance to blog today. So today’s blog post is going to be a “check the box” workout log.

Today’s Workout

As I customarily do, I worked out at lunch today. I completed a tabata-style workout with four exercises.

For each exercise, I completed 8 rounds of tabatas. Each round consisted of 20 seconds of exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest. If you’re doing the math, that means that in 4 minutes I basically do 8 quick sets of a single exercise. After 8 rounds in 4 minutes, I take a quick 60 second breather and move on to the next exercise and repeat the process.

Today’s tabatas consisted of:

  • Standard planks
  • Burpees
  • Horizontal scissor kicks
  • Squats

In all, the workout only takes about 20 minutes and does a pretty good job of hitting every muscle in your body with an emphasis on your core. A great way to round out the week with a nice, quick all-body workout.

    • Yeah. My jump while doing burpees is pretty minimal. It’s a jump, but if I had to actually clear anything I’d be in trouble 🙂
