Today was my favorite kind of Sunday.
I started the day by going for a run with a friend. We ran Currahee. We took it easy on the way up, but on the way down we realized we were on pace to beat our time from last week so we pushed the last downhill portion pretty hard and beat last weeks time by about two minutes.
On the way home, I swung by the grocery store to pick up potatoes, onions, and bananas, and once I got home made brunch for the family: bacon, potatoes and onions, scrambled eggs, grits, and banana pancakes.
After brunch, I spent the next several hours working out in the yard. We’re in the process of putting in a pool and while the pool itself is basically done, I have a lot of work left to do in the yard. I spent several hours stretching jute netting across a bank and installing 120 feet of resin edging along the base of the bank.
Once the sun went down, I got cleaned up and watched my youngest daughter, who is 10 months old, while my wife made dinner. And then after dinner I played two rounds of bullshit with my three oldest sons.
And that was my Sunday!
It’s hard to think of a more enjoyable way to spend my Sunday: going for a run, making and enjoying a nice brunch, making some good progress in the yard, eating dinner as a family, and capping it off with an hourlong card game. Sign me up for this kind of Sunday every Sunday.
