20 Mile Long Run on Gravel

I started my day by joining my friend Alex for a long run out at the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Two of Alex’ sisters also joined for a few miles. All four of us plan to run the Conquer the Rock 25k on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Today’s run was beautiful though a bit cold. It was a chilly and breezy 38 degrees (3 C) when we got started, and stayed cool throughout the run. Most of today’s run was on gravel forest service roads and consisted of four different out-and-back loops.

In the end, I logged 20 miles in right at 4 hours – a solid pace for a long run with a lot of elevation change.
